What is the Best Way to Ship A Boat In Canada?

There are two different ways to ship a boat in Canada. Which one you choose depends on how big your boat is and where it’s going.

Tow-away boat shipping

Tow-away shipping is for boats that are loaded on a trailer. If your boat already has a trailer, this would be the most economical option. Your boat and trailer would be towed by a commercial truck to your destination.

Tow-away shipping is ideal when you have a road-worthy trailer. It’s preferable because it can be difficult to find a trailer that matches your particular boat.

Some types of transport are more complex to transport, depending on the size and type of boat.

Sailboats with a keel require specialized equipment that requires booking in advance. Yachts and large oversized boats would also require a special trailer.

It is best to book this type of transport at least 4 weeks in advance. Of course, we always do our best to accommodate your schedule. Booking in advance is the best way to save on shipping costs.

Flatbed or Flatdeck Trailer Boat Transport

If your boat doesn’t have a trailer or it’s too big for a tow-away, you’ll need to use a flatbed trailer or flatdeck transport. This type of transport uses a truck with an open deck or a trailer that can hold boats up to about 45 feet long.

The cost of shipping a boat using this method is higher than the tow-away method, but it is a more versatile option. It can be used for boats of all sizes and types.

We would need to schedule a truck with suitable equipment. So, if you’re using this type of transport, make sure to let us know which option you would prefer.
